Madhya Pradesh: PDS rice being sent to open market seized in Balaghat

A truckload of rice meant for distribution through PDS was seized while it was being transported for sale in the open market, in Balaghat district.

Sources said that complaints of black marketing of rice meant for distribution under public distribution scheme were being received from Lanjhi area. SDM Lanjhi, Pradeep Kaurav was on patrolling when he saw a truck loaded with rice in suspected condition, the officer stopped the truck and questioned its driver, when he could not provide appropriate answers, officials of the food and civil supplies department were called, added official sources.

On checking the rice loaded on the truck was found to be the rice meant for distribution under PDS, police were informed, and the truck was seized, it had a total of 93 quintals of rice, said sources. An FIR was registered against the truck driver and the persons who were transporting it, said sources.
