Andhra Pradesh: Fortified wheat to be supplied in urban areas

The state government has decided to distribute fortified wheat for white ration cardholders in urban areas.

During a review meeting conducted here in Vizianagaram on Tuesday, state civil supplies minister K Nageswara Rao and education minister Botsa Satyanarayana announced that the fortified wheat will be supplied at Rs 16 a kilo from July.

Speaking on this occasion, the ministers said that the state has brought in several reforms in the civil supplies system.

“We are planning to extend the fortified wheat initiative to even the rural parts of the state. Every cardholder will get 1 kg wheat. The paddy procurement is being done in the most transparent manner. The state government is encouraging the farmers to increase millet cultivation,” said the ministers. Nageswara Rao asked the officials to take measures to double the extent of finger millet cultivation in the state.
