Telengana:₹5 cr seized during I-T searches at rice mills

 Income Tax department officials on Thursday seized 5 crore during searches at rice mills in Miryalaguda, Haliya and Nalgonda.

The officials suspect that the cash was going to be used as election funds.

The searches were conducted at Vajrateja rice mill in Haliya, Mahashakti rice mill and Vaidehi rice mill in Miryalaguda, Sumanjali rice mill in Nalgonda, Keerthi rice mill and Venkatasai mill in Chettipalayam.

According to sources in the I-T department, the house of one Sridhar, who has links to one of these rice mills, was searched.

Though there were reports that searches were conducted in the houses of relatives of Miryalaguda BRS MLA Nallamotu Bhaskar Rao, he denied it.
