Telengana:IT officials conduct 2nd phase of raids on rice mills
In a surprising turn of events on Thursday, Income Tax (IT) officials resumed their operations with a focus on five prominent mills – Sai Jaya Lakshmi, Vaishnavi, RSV, and Surya mills in Miryalaguda. Unlike the previous raids, which were conducted about a month ago, officials directly targeted the mills rather than the residences of the millers.
Six teams of IT officers scrutinised the records of these mills, examining transactions and purchase records from banks. Miryalaguda, a hub for rice mills in Asia, witnessed this second wave of IT raids, sending shockwaves through the milling community. The IT officials, undeterred by the first series of raids during the Assembly Elections campaign on November 16, intensified their scrutiny in a recent operation. In the initial phase, IT officials targeted mills in Shettipalem, Sagar Road, and the residences of three millers for a thorough three-day investigation. Records related to the millers’ financial transactions were seized during this period, causing concern among the milling community.
