Nizamabad (Telengana): Ex-MLA Shakeel Amer’s rice mill raided by officials

Civil supplies, revenue and police officials conducted inspections on the rice mills in Nizamabad district including those owned by former Bodhan BRS MLA Shakeel Amer’s family at Salura. Allegedly, Rs 70 crore worth custom milling rice belonging to the state government in the former MLA’s rice mills have gone missing.

The raids have been continuing in the Bodhan area over two das. According to official sources, 50,732 metric tonnes of paddy was allocated to the former MLA’s family’s ice mill during the Vanakalam and Yasangi seasons.

Of this, 33,328 metric tonnes of paddy was unaccounted for and suspected to be misappropriated. Police registered a case over the missing of Rs 9 crore worth rice.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Amer denied they had misappropriated the government-supplied rice. “We have submitted no objection certificates to the authorities and handed over the rice,” he claimed. Amer also refuted the allegations of misappropriation of Rs 70 crore worth rice and said they were part of a political vendetta.
