Assam: 16th SSB Bn seizes unbranded rice bags on Indo-Bhutan border
The 16th SSB Bn seized 2,500 kg of unbranded rice from a Mahindra pick-up van in a routine check near border pillar No. 168 along the Indo-Bhutan border and apprehended a person in this connection on Sunday.
Sources from the SSB said, based on international input, unbranded rice and Pina (Khadd), along with a Mahindra Bolero pickup van, were seized along the Indo-Bhutan border at 10 a.m. on Sunday. They also apprehended a person. The seizure was made by the patrolling duty of BOP, Sonapur (G-Coy of Tukrabasti) at border pillar No.168 on the India side.
Sources said that the seized items included unbranded rice (2000 kg), Pina (Khadd) rice (500 kg), and a Mahindra Bolero pickup van. The total seizure was expected to exceed Rs. 7.32 lakh. The seized items, along with the apprehended person, Jahirul Islam (29), son of Jahan Uddin Seikh of village Dhaknabari under the Abhaiyapuri police station of Bongaigaon district, were handed over to the Land Custom Station at Hatisar (Dadgiri).
