Telangana: Gang smuggling PDS rice busted, six in police net
A gang smuggling public distribution system (PDS) rice was busted in Zaheerabad by cops on Sunday night and 10 tonnes of rice seized. Six people, including the seller from the town and buyer from Karnataka, were arrested.
The racketeers were caught after Zaheerabad town police along with the special task force police of Sangareddy district started checking vehicles in the town following a specific tip. Around 8 pm, the cops intercepted one DCM van and two four-wheelers carrying rice.
The arrested included seller Harshad from Zaheearabad, buyer J Gundappa (42) of Bidar in Karnataka, DCM owner B Narayana (49) from Venkataramana Colony in Zaheerabad, DCM driver Paramesh (21) from Khasimpur in Karnataka, owner-cum-driver of the Bolero Raju (33) from Mugudampally in Zaheerabad and driver of the other four-wheeler, Salauddin (25), from Shanti Nagar Colony in Zaheerabad.
All the accused were produced before the court along with the seized material on Monday.
