Jammu & Kashmir: 4 arrested after recovery of illegally procured rice in Budgam.

Police in Budgam foiled a black-marketing attempt by seizing 800 kgs of rice meant for government ration depots and arrested the accused persons involved in the commission of crime.

A police party of PP Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Arath Crossing, intercepted a vehicle (load carrier) bearing Chassis Number BBXWRC66797 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone, Ab Qayoom Bhat, both residents of Singhpora Pattan and Ab Majid Wani resident of Arath Budgam.

During the search, a police party recovered 16 sacks containing 50 kg of rice each. During preliminary questioning, it surfaced that they had bought the rice from a fair Shop at Arath which is run by Gh Nabi Wani resident of Arath Budgam. All the 4 accused persons have been arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
