Patna achieves 95% paddy seedling goal

With the onset of monsoon and good rainfall reported in Patna district, over 95% of paddy seedling work has been completed till Friday. Against the target of 13,309 hectares, the district has covered an area of 12,689 hectares till date, according to Patna district agriculture office.
A target of 1.34 lakh hectare has been set for paddy plantation in Patna this year.
“We have completed a little over 95% of our set target for paddy seedling in the district of Patna so far and are hopeful that the remaining 5% will be achieved soon,” said an officer of the agriculture department, adding, six blocks, including Belchhi, Daniawan, Dhanarua, Masaurhi, Patna Sadar and Sampatchak of the district, have achieve 100% seedling target till Friday.
He also said that due to late arrival of the monsoon, the seedling work was not completely done. “Paddy transplantation has also begun on a small-scale in some areas of the district,” he added.
As per latest data of the department, of the 23 blocks under Patna district, 15 blocks have achieved 90% or above of the set target for paddy seedling work till Friday and the remaining two– Khusrupur and Mokama– have achieved the target of 89% and 84% respectively.
The officer further said that against the target of 4,065 quintals, 3,590 quintals of paddy seeds were distributed among the farmers till date. “We are short of 475 quintals, which we will do in the coming few days,” he said.
The paddy seed varieties that have been distributed among the farmers include Sabour Sampana (1,771 quintal), Sabour Shri (913 quintal), Swarna Sub-1 (694 quintal), Rajendra Mansoori-1 (250 quintal) and Sabour Harshit (109 quintal) among others.
